Water And Waste Water Analysis

We offer a complete water and waste water analysis including full chemistry, heavy metals, physical and microbiological analysis. The results are compared against Kenyan Standards, NEMA guidelines, AAMI and World Health Organization Standards.

01. Water Analysis:

Water Analysis indicates the safety levels of the sampled water. Water can contain a wide range of chemical and biological contaminants, including harmful salts, heavy metals, fluorides and fecal coliform bacteria. Using the water analysis results, we can recommend on suitable treatment measures to improve the safety levels. Our services in water analysis ranges from drinking water, borehole water, dialysis water and irrigation water. We offer a complete water analysis, including full chemistry, heavy metals, physical and microbiological analysis. The results are compared against International World Health Organization guide lines for water quality.

Parameters tested for:

Physicochemical Water Analysis:

  • Sodium, Nitrate, Total Hardness (Lime), Calcium Carbonate, Total Alkalinity, Magnesium, Turbidity, Bicarbonate, Nitrite, Iron, Manganese, Potassium, Sulfate, Fluoride, Chloride, Electrical Conductivity, pH, Colour, Est. Total Dissolved Solids, Ammonia, etc

Microbiology Analysis:

  • Iron Bacteria, Bacterial viable count, Coliforms, E coli, Staphylococcus Aureus, Salmonella spp, Shigella spp, Legionella, Yeast and moulds, etc

02. Waste Water Analysis

Waste Water analysis is a requirement for many industries and farms to conform with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA). We are a designated NEMA laboratory, analyzing for a wide range of chemical, physical and biological parameters in effluent water.

Parameters tested for:

NEMA Effluent test into Public Sewer:

  • pH, Zinc, Lead, Phosphates, TSS, Color, Copper, Ammonia-Nitrogen, Temperature, COD, Nitrates, TDS, BOD, Sulphide, etc

NEMA Effluent discharge to the environment test:

  • pH, Nitrites, E. coli, Total Suspended Solids, Nitrates, Total coliforms, Ammonia, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Total Dissolved Solids, Biological Oxygen Demand, etc

Note: values shown are percent uncertainties for each test method.

A minimum of 1 litre bottles for each test, ie Chemical analysis and Microbial analysis, is advisable. For microbial samples, ensure the use of clean/sterile bottles and gloves during sampling to avoid contamination. Fill the samples to the brim and repackage the sample bottles in polythene bags or a cooler box to ensure sterility. All samples should be brought to the laboratory for analysis within 24 hours of sampling. Samples should be brought in before 10am for the turnaround time to begin on the sample submission day.
